Gallery 3: The Moon

The Moon is the quintessential “rabbit hole” card, in the sense that it represents confusion and ambiguity, the unconscious and dreams, illusion and the revelation of dubious oracles. In many of my dreams I seem to be guided by the moon in the sense of wandering without a reliable map, haunted by a vague sense of inability to reach my goal. The Moon, then, is about my attempts to navigate a landscape where certainty is impossible.  Parallel to the biblical stories of my childhood were other, possibly more helpful, stories such as that of Alice wandering in search of her “wonderland.” This set of images (both oil paintings and digital sketches) is a syncretistic blend of mythical traditions such as these.
